Saoirse’s Musical Line

            While everyone was leaving the stadium, they met Oralia who had just walk out of the curing room. Reese greeted her “Hey! Orie! Why are you so cruel, you almost kill that guy?”

      “I was almost killed by him. You don’t even care about me?” said Oralia coldly “That guy played the song that destroying my internal organs. If I didn’t quickly defeat him, will I ever meet you here?”

      Oralia’s words made Veejay felt better.

      “Oh! Really? Sorry ‘bout that.” regretted Reese “Hey, these are my friends, wanna know them?”

      “No.” answered Oralia.

      “Well, this is Damian and this is Noel…” Reese, ignoring what Oralia had just said, slowly introduced his friends and intended to introduce Veejay last. At first, Oralia didn’t seem to be interested but when it was Veejay’s turn, her eyes glinted and Reese saw that. (Hmm… dangerous, mayday, mayday! What will Reese do again?!)

      “Oralia! Oralia!” the voice called Oralia came from the curly blond hair girl who was the first person to send the letter to Reese. She ran toward them with glee.

      “Re…Reese-waoda!?!” she screamed and her face turned red when she saw who Oralia was standing with.

      “Marvis?” Oralia turned back and talked to her “Err…emm… This is my cousin, Reese, and his friends.” Looked like she didn’t want to talk about them.

      “Really?! Reese-waoda is your cousin?!” Marvis looked happier “Great! Oh! In fact, I just want to congratulate you!”

      You might wonder how could Marvis, who was in the same level with Oralia who had just entered Saoirse this year, know Reese. Marvis was like those students who couldn’t pass the first level so she had a chance to see Reese last year.

      “Where’s Cora and Mei?” asked Oralia.

      “They already went to the voice warming-up room.”

      “Umm, let’s go.” said Oralia and pulled Marvis away.

      “Wa…Wait! Can I go with you,….. please?” Zes suddenly said and everyone turned around, stared at him. “Zes want to compete with Veejay? He likes Oralia?” was the thought of everyone at that moment.

      Rai was the first person who broke the silence “Why on earth do you want to go there?”

      Don’t you forget that no one had heard that dark brown hair girl’s name except Zes. Zes just wanted to thank her for giving him the medicine, not competing with Veejay about Oralia.

      “It’s that brown hair girl who gave me the medicine, Mei, I just wanna thank her!”

      Everyone sighed with relieve.

      So, they followed Oralia and Marvis to the Musical Line of Saoirse. “I thought she was in Drug Line, that Mei, she has some good medicine.” Deinol whispered to Zes. Marvis glanced at Reese all the time. At first, Reese smiled back at her but when it grew longer; he also started to get annoyed. Veejay looked at Oralia from the back. The others were enjoying the embellishment of the Line’s castle.

      The marble floor was covered with gold rim red carpet. The marble walls had carved many musical notes, each of them painted with different colours. For example, one-step notes were painted with gold; two-step notes were painted with silver. There were also many musical notations that Zes didn’t understand, like slur or crescendo. Angels, naiads, nymphs and mermaids, as beautiful as those on the wall outside the castle, could also be seen here, singing blissfully. On the ceiling held the musical notes that glowed the lights, so that the pathways were bright enough to see things. When they reached the third floor, which was where the voice warming-up rooms were located, a voice floated from the room in the middle. “Hmm… Mei’s soprano voice is still as good as ever.” said Marvis in a dreamy tone. Oralia opened the door which had the blue velvet curtain behind. Just slightly opened the door, the voice suddenly grew SO loud that it could make the building collapsed yet it was also as bright as the sound of the hitting glasses and soft and unbelievably comfortable to listen to. Mei, who was warming up her voice in the room, was startled to see the door opened and even shocked when a heap of boys poured in. Her face turned really really red. Another girl who was sitting at the piano took out the ear-protecting headphone and turned to them. “Hey!... knock the door before you come in.” she said “Or the building will collapsed.”

      “Sorry Cora…” said Oralia “But I think you won’t be able to hear the knock.”

      “You’re right, he he.” giggled Cora.   

      The voice warming-up room here at Derst wasn’t like the ones we have in our world. They kept the voice efficiently. Although the greatest opera singer in our world who sing in that room; her or his voice would never ever slipped through them.

      Studying voice in Derst also different, the voice could use to hurt, comfort or strengthen people when they sing in different rhythms, styles, tones. But, of course, not many people could do that.

      Mei, face was still red, didn’t say anything; she turned round to drink the water instead.        

      “Mei!!!! Reese-waoda is Oralia’s cousin!!” said Marvis while walking toward Mei with a cheerful face then she whispered “Do you think he’ll read my letter?”

      “Maybe.” Mei said didn’t seem to care about it.

      “Oh! Yeah, Mei! He wants to meet you.” and Marvis pointed at Zes “Do you know each other?”

      “No.” said Mei as coldly as Oralia.

      “Sorry… emm… in fact, I just want to thank you for your medicine and your help.” said Zes politely.

      “It’s okay, not a big deal.” said Mei. It looked like her shyness had vanished. “Are you feeling better now?” she said and then acted like she had done something she shouldn’t.

      “I’m ok. Thank you.” said Zes. 

      “Hey! You guys want to listen to our music? Altogether, Mei sings and Co…”   “MARVIS!!!” both Oralia and Mei shouted out together and it worked, Marvis suddenly shut up.

      “Good idea! I’ve never seen anyone in Voice Zith that’s good. Could you sing just one song for us, Mei?” said Reese.

      Oralia glared at Marvis. Mei didn’t say anything but her face grew redder. Anyway, Oralia moved her harp. Reese saw the chance so he told Veejay to help her. Marvis got her violin. Cora was helping Mei to find the song to play when they got one, Mei passed it around.

      There would never ever be any song that was more beautiful and more melodious than this song because Mei, Oralia and Cora who were talented in music played it together. Although Marvis wasn’t as good as them but if she was in our world, she could be your teacher. The song they sang was the old song about Derst which the historian speculated that it was obtained from another world.

      When the piano finished the last note together with Mei’s voice, everyone was still in silence until Marvis woke them up from the dream.

      “How’s it?!” To tell the truth, she wanted the answer only from Reese but everyone scrambled to answer and, of course, the answer was “Marvellous!”

      I think you might want to know what had happened during the song was playing. The first thing was… you heard the piano solo that made you felt like sitting on the velvety grass in a plain field. Then, came the violin, on the field you were sitting grew many clumps of colourful flowers. Next, when the harp began its melody, the sweet wind slowly blew all over your face. Last but not least, Mei’s singing voice that made you felt happy, comfortable and joyful without any causes. That was what made all the boys fell into the dream, the realm where the four musicians had created.

      That night Zes and everyone slept deeply well.
