Hello Spring……at Knoxville Tennessee

It is getting hot here; oh man, last week was 28 F, but now 82 F. The weather like this reminds me my lovely country “Thailand”. I think sometime if you are so far away from your country for a long time, you will recognize that how gorgeous your country is.  

Well, I got one difficult decision last couple weeks during the conference in California. It was not a technical decision, but it was an attitude decision.

After I finished my presentation, two gentlemen from one of famous companies in US (of course in my study territory) gave me their business cards and asked me the questions.

Gents: Hello my name is … and this is ……, we have followed your works and we admire them. Our company will do the research like this. Well,  What are you gonna do after you graduate ?  

Otto: Thank you, I really appreciated it. It was such an honor Sir.  I will go back to Thailand to be a lecturer after graduate (hopefully next couple months).

Gents: well, if you change you mind, please let us know. Usually, you might get about 80K for the position. How much did they pay you over there?

Otto: Hmmm, not that much.  Thank you very much for your offers Sir.

I got a job offer during the conference; my friends told me I might be a stupid one that I did not accept an offer. 

Well, “Stupid is what stupid does” and “Life is like a box of chocolates, you will never know what are you gonna get” from Forrest Gumm.

In my opinion, money is not every thing; your objective is something. I have my objectives for my living.  I do not know that I make the right or wrong decision, but I have made it since 4 years ago before I took off  from Bangkok.  

I recognize that engineering is a job to create thing (robot, building and others); however, the most challenging engineering job is to create another good engineer.

The intention of my writing here is just to remind my philosophy and my word. Anyways, I will have a big exam (what they call a defense) coming up next week.  Well, let get the touchdown first; not fumble it. And, hopefully, I will see you lovely Siam in May.
