Caption: 7/30/08 - This is the grip stuff - it's very heavy but essential. I used Bogen Magic Arms, Super Clamps, and ballheads to mount cameras in remote locations securely. There is also an OverXposed floor plate and many studs, gaffer tape, remote cords and other knick knacks to save the day. I'm also bringing six metal safety cables so that if for some freak reason a camera loosens up - it cannot fall (and hurt anyone.) You've got to think of not only how you're going to get things shipped there and in once piece (hard Pelican Cases) but also - how you're going to work once you arrive. Here I am taking a call - a welcome break - in a process that took more than a day. Caption: 7/30/08 - Here's the other stuff - always only put soft stuff - in this case waterproof covers for cameras and lenses -I have a bunch of those: from Think Tank, AcquaTech, and Canon. It's the rainy season in Beijing - so you need to be prepared for rain. Cameras are mounted in position 8-12 hours before an event - so you need to plan for the worse. Caption: 7/30/08 - This is my prized case - it has all of my "prime" lenses (meaning non-zoom.) These are the sharpest lenses out there - and open up to f2 all the way down to f1.2 - you can shoot in incredibly low light and get images no one else gets. I'll try to bring this when I can - for special uses. I packed it in the waterproof case because I can stand on it if necc. and also lock it and leave it - with a chain of course. As I won't be using these lenses as much as my other lenses - but when I do, I hope to get images that stand appart from the rest. These are "my babies." Photo ?Vincent Laforet

Caption: 7/30/08 - This is my main roller - the one I will have every day. It includes 3 bodies, my main zooms, and a 300mm 2.8 - my Lexar CF cards, three teleconverters (Two 1.4X and 1 2X) as well as a right-angle viewinder (for remotes and critical focusing) and a WIFI transmitter for the MKIII series. Some ND and polarizing filters I'll likely never use - but you never know - and lense cloths etc. If I have to bring only one bag - this is the one. Oh - and there's also a Canon strobe in there - you never use a strobe in the Olympics (they're not allowed) - but you never know when a portrait or feature might pop up that might require one.
